FAQs

FAQs

Coyote Special

Q: Do the traps kill the animal trapped in them?

A:  There are many different traps available to use.  Some traps are designed to kill the target animal.  For example beaver are usually trapped in kill traps.  This is due to the difficulty faced in trying to relocate the animal.  Relocating the beaver could cause it to become a problem to someone else.

Q:  What do you do if you trap an animal that you were not targeting?  Like someone's dog or cat.

A:  Incidental catches can and do occur.  Traps that are set on land are designed to catch and hold the animal until the trap is checked.  These foothold traps do not maim the animal.  They simply hold it in place.  If a non-target animal is caught, we can release it without harming it.  With that said, we strongly urge all pet owners to keep their pets on their respective property.  Being caught in a trap is the least of their worries with the amount of Coyotes running around.

Q:  How often do you check your traps?

A:  Traps are checked once every 24 hours in accordance with New Hampshire State Law
